This position offers a fun, rewarding and challenging job, working on the water, and meeting new friends! Your primary job will involve high interaction with guests, food service, tour sales, and being an all-around great host to our guests onboard the boat. All of tour Onboard team members are based in the Seattle, WA area.  Our high-speed ferry cruises between Seattle and Victoria, British Columbia daily.

This is a full-time, year-round position with benefits.

Also, a great opportunity for student seasonal work from May through September.

Key Responsibilities

  • A genuine desire to provide exceptional customer service while creating amazing memories for our guests
  • Key focus of onboard sales: tours/excursions in both Victoria and Seattle; onboard food, beverage and merchandise
  • Vessel cleaning and general upkeep
  • Various boarding and disembarkation duties, including greeting, scanning boarding passes, luggage handling and assisting guests with accessibility needs
  • Play an important role in the safety of our guests onboard. All Onboard employees attend a 5-day USCG Basic Safety Training course, which includes instruction on basic life-saving techniques, fire safety, life-raft launching and water safety.

Key Requirements

  • Must possess a US Passport
  • No DUI/DWI, negligent driving, or felony convictions (this will disqualify your entry into Canada)
  • Must pass a required pre-employment drug screen (including cannabis) and pass random United States Coast Guard (USCG) drug screenings (paid for by FRS)
  • Complete a USCG Basic Safety Training courses (paid for by FRS)
  • Complete a USCG Medical Fitness exam (paid for by FRS)

This is a full-time position, with our season running from March through October.

Compensation

$20.76/hour, plus commission and gratuity (average earnings $23-27 per hour); transportation/parking stipend; Paid Time Off (PTO); travel benefits.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service while helping create amazing memories for our guests
  • Food, beverage and gift shop sales. Previous point-of-sale system experience is a plus
  • Line handling on the vessel for arrivals and departures; No experience? We will train you!
  • Assist the onboard Naturalist with taking and editing photos, which are sold onboard on USB flash drives

  • Detailed cleaning of the vessels while docked overnight, including disinfecting surfaces, sanitizing, vacuuming, carpet shampooing, wet-mopping, floor waxing, empty trash/recycling to collection bins and prepping seats with magazines/menus for our guests.
  • Cleaning of the terminal, including guest areas, lounges, restrooms and offices
  • Preparing the guest boarding area for loading and unloading operation
  • Luggage handling, operating pallet jacks and electrical hoists to swing the luggage bins on/off the vessels
  • Handling mooring lines – No dockhand experience? We’ll train you!
